This is why they should allow fascinators at Royal Ascot

Whenever Ladies Day at Royal Ascot rolls round I love having a quick peek at what the vast range of outfits that everyone turns up in, from the wacky and tacky to the classy and beautiful. But of course it's the head wear that really stands out.

However, they've recently tightened up on rules at Ascot, especially about what you wear on your head:

- Fascinators are no longer permitted; neither are headpieces which do not have a base covering a sufficient area of the head (four inches / 10cm).

It would appear from recent pictures that Royalty would have benefited from a slightly more relaxed approach to fascinators - Zara Phillip's rather large (and fabulous) fascinator proved slightly obstructive when greeting fellow royalty.

So if Ascot were to loosen their rules a little, you could avoid such a mishap with one of our fascinators! (They only measure 10cm wide approx)

It's a little late for Ascot, but if you have another event this Summer that you need to add a little touch of glamour to, then please drop us a line and we can create you a completely bespoke and unique fascinator or hair accessory.

It's World Pomination!

Oops, I've been a little quite on the blogging front of late, so hello to you all again! Please forgive my asbsence :)

We've been very busy crafty bees over the past few months, so have so much to share with you in the coming blog posts, so stay tuned.

But today I want to talk to you about pompoms. A few months ago my little boy reached the grand old age of one. So as well as being excited about sharing this special day with him, I also was super excited about decorating the village hall with lots of little crafty touches. Namely pompoms.

I'm sure you all watched Kirstie's Christmas all those months ago, and remember her pompom section. Well, Mum purchased a few pompom makers, and we had a quick rifle through our stash of yarn, and spent evenings making pompoms. (It's very therapeutic). I think the final count was a grand total of 105 pompoms. They looked super pretty hung up in the hall, and my little boy had a fabulous time 'playing' with them.



However, after the party we were left with all these pom poms which we weren't quite sure what to do with, until we heard about Kirstie Allsopp's PomPom World Record attempt where she plans to break the record for the number of pompoms laid end to end, and she's looking for help. (You'll be able to see the pompoms at Kirstie's Handmade Fair at Hampton Court Palace between the 19th-21st September this year.)

So exciting!

All we have to do is tie our pompoms in groups of three and drop them into our local Hobbycraft store, and here they are:

Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust Christmas Craft Fayre

This Saturday we're getting our Christmas crafts out and sharing them with Newquay. So if you'd like to get a head start on your Christmas shopping, why not pop in and see us at The Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust Christmas Craft Fayre, and support a really good cause whilst you're at it.

It's only £1 for adults and children are free.

It'll be a whole day full of festive fun with not only a range of craft stalls, but also some delicious food, music, Father Christmas and a very special helper :)

The birthday blog uncovered

It's the hubby's birthday today and, even if I do say so myself, I have brought him the most awesome present so I wanted to come up with a fun and inventive way in which to present it to him. So I thought about the tools I have, a super cute baby, a blog, and a helpful friend.

The task seemed simple. Get some paper, put it in front of the baby and take some pictures. So much harder than it sounds when said baby decides he has an appetite for paper. We needed a plan B.

We got some Scrabble tiles and spelled out 'Happy Birthday Daddy' with the aid of a blank tile (who knew there are only 2 'y's in Scrabble). And with the magic of Photoshop we added it to a picture with Harry, leading him to the next blog post.

Business cards arrive, and even the hubby is getting in on the crafty act...

Who doesn't love post? I mean, when it's not bills or yet another parcel arriving for my neighbours with the postman ringing the doorbell so loudly it wakes the baby! (mini rant).

It's so nice to receive a parcel that's actually for me. So yesterday when there was a little package from moo.com on my doormat, I was excited to open it to find our business cards had arrived. Check them out...

Getting the business cards was super simple through Moo, and what was even better is that all I had to pay for was postage as I took advantage of Folksy's partnership offer with Moo. And I get to promote my Folksy shop too. Bonus!

Once they'd arrived, my husband decided that they needed a nice presentation box. So he immediately got out his tools and the scrap bits of wood he'd hoarded (I was actually grateful he'd kept them for once), and whipped up this cute little presentation box in a few hours. What do you think?
